Fakhar Zaman Injured, Out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025
Pakistan’s star cricketer, Fakhar Zaman, has been ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to an **oblique injury**. This type of injury affects the muscles in the abdominal wall, often caused by strain or tearing.
Zaman got hurt during Pakistan’s first match against New Zealand. While fielding, he tried to stop a boundary but injured himself. Although he returned to the field later, he couldn’t open the batting due to the time he spent off the field. He batted later but struggled with running and was dismissed after scoring 24 runs.
This is a big setback for Pakistan, especially since they lost their opening match by 60 runs and are set to face their arch-rivals, India, in their next game on Sunday. **Imam-ul-Haq**, another left-handed opener, will replace Zaman in the team.
Zaman is known for his outstanding performance in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final, where he scored 114 runs, helping Pakistan win by 180 runs against India. In his six ODI matches against India, he has scored 234 runs at an average of 46.80.
In a heartfelt message, Zaman expressed his disappointment but remained positive:
- Representing Pakistan is an honor and a dream for every cricketer in the country.
- He is grateful for the opportunities he has had and will support the team from home.
- He believes this is just a temporary setback and promises a stronger comeback.
Pakistan fans will miss Zaman in the upcoming match against India, but they hope for a strong performance from the team in his absence.
